Bali is a province of Indonesia, which is located between the islands of Java and Lombok island. Bali is also commonly referred to as The Island Of Thousands Temples or The Island of Gods. The capital of Bali is Denpasar, located in the south of the island.

Culturally and linguistically, the Balinese are closely related to the peoples of the Indonesian archipelago, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Oceania. Balinese culture is strongly influenced by Indian, Chinese, and particularly Hindu culture, beginning around the 1st century AD. The Hindu Majapahit Empire (1293–1520 AD) on eastern Java founded a Balinese colony in 1343. When the empire declined, there was an exodus of intellectuals, artists, priests, and musicians from Java to Bali in the 15th century.

Despite intense exposure to modernisation and foreign influences, Balinese still faithfully cling to their culture and traditions, which is what makes this island unique. Here traditional architecture, kinship, religion, dance and music jostle for space with modern hotels and shopping, making it an exceptional tourist destination, unlike any other. There are a myriad of places of interest and exciting activities in Bali – it is a favourite destination for both adventurers and those in need of a little relaxation. One can surf in the beaches of Kuta, cycle in the by lanes of Ubud, watch the Kecak dance in Uluwatu, sunset in Tanah lot, take a road trip to Lake Bratan, climb the volcanic Mount Batur, raft through the heart of Agung river or shop in one of the many artisan villages.
